Get your Choose Life Virginia License Plates directly from DMV starting July 2, 2009
On July 2, 2009 you can go directly to DMV website on this link or your local DMV office to order your own Choose Life license plates. You will receive your plate faster by applying directly with DMV starting July 2 than if you mail a paper application to the plate sponsor, Richmond Coalition for Life in the coming days.
On July 1, DMV will begin issuing Choose Life Plates from the 481 applications turned in by Senator Ken Cuccinelli, so if you are one of those 481you should expect to receive your plate in July. Applications that have become stale or are determined by DMV to be incomplete as presented will be returned to plate sponsor Richmond Coalition for Life, who will work with the applicant to update the application.
Anticipating fabulous demand for the Choose Life plate, DMV and plate sponsor Richmond Coalition for Life encourage Virginia citizens who have not applied for Choose Life plates to apply directly on the DMV website starting July 2. However for citizens who feel they can not wait until July 2 to apply, the Richmond Coalition for Life will continue to receive pre-paid applications for submission to DMV probably around mid July. After July 2, please encourage your friends to apply for their own Choose Life plates so that there will be over 1000 plates on Virginia roads in the coming months. Begin now to plan a publicity drive at your parish or church or pregnancy center or other group to be conducted after July 2. Also, promote the plate in your July/August/September newsletters. Once more than 1000 registrations are received by DMV, $15 of the $25 specialty plate fees including future annual renewals will go to Pregnancy Centers in Virginia that are 501(c)(3) entities and affiliated with a national pregnancy center affiliation organization that has officially committed to the "Our Commitment of Care" standards.
The Choose Life Team expresses grateful appreciation for the tremendous support and encouragement of so many Virginians and advocacy groups that worked tirelessly to promote the plate, to obtain the required pre-paid applications, to lobby members of General Assembly to vote for the bill and to encourage Governor Kaine to sign the bill. All of the dedication and hard work now make it possible for Virginians to proudly display their Choose Life license plate starting in July 2009.
